RAYMOND SANTANA FROM THE EXONERATED FIVE OPENED THE 13TH I WILL TELL INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL

The I Will Tell International Film Festival announced its Opening Gala for 2019: WHEN THEY SEE US – An Evening with Raymond Santana

I Will Tell premieres powerful stories from filmmakers across the globe. Across 11 nights in, in the festivalโ€™s brand new home in Subterania, Ladbroke Grove, stories of transformation and tales of unlikely heroes overcoming adversity will be told through dramas, documentaries, animation and short films. Each screening is followed by a post-screening discussion with filmmakers and other inspirational speakers.

The festival opens with the screening of When They See Us – An Evening with Raymond Santana. Golden Globe winning Director  Ava DuVernay’s masterpiece is based on the true story of five teens from Harlem: Antron McCray, Kevin Richardson,  Yusef Salaam, Raymond Santana and Korey Wise, who become trapped in a nightmare after being falsely accused of a brutal attack in Central Park.  Raymond Santana, one-fifth of the Exonerated Five will lead the post-screening panel discussion.

Festival Director, Jenny Lee says: “In an age of increasing darkness and confusion, there are some who have learnt how to use the fire of adversity to help light the way to a better future.  Raymond Santana and the rest of the Exonerated Five are the very modern day epitome of this and we are truly honoured to have him open the festival this year.”

An Evening with Raymond Santana took place on Friday 30 August at 7pm.

The festival ran from 30 August to 09 September at Subterania in Ladbroke Grove and the I Will Tell promise is that no one leaves the festival the same.
